This practical session, led by Caroline Hearne and Ainsley Mullen from Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, explores what sustainability really means for small and early-stage businesses and how you can start embedding it into your day-to-day operations.
Whether you’re developing a new idea, reviewing how you work, or looking to reduce your environmental impact, this session will give you clear, practical guidance to help you make responsible and sustainable choices, often saving money as well.
The session will introduce key sustainability principles and explore how businesses can operate more responsibly, with a focus on energy use, environmental impact and long-term resilience.

- Wider benefits and opportunities
This session is ideal for pre-start and early-stage businesses, as well as anyone considering self-employment or trading with sustainability and environmental responsibility in mind. It’s designed to raise awareness and support businesses to start and grow in a more sustainable way.
